Although Christopher Mooney is best known for his wide angle paintings of Oregon's Bridges, he has also taken a closer view and paints the people who work on the bridges and in the river. Recently he began to concentrate on portraiture, paintings of people without the industrial setting. His technique is that of the old masters, yet the paintings have a modern feel with contemporary settings, ambiance and boldness. His portraits play with light and dark as well as hard and soft edges to recreate the three dimensional image on canvas.
